Summary
BrewMind turns a coffee bag into a brew recipe. It is free. We collect only what we need to run it: your account details if you sign in, your brew settings and brews, and a small amount of anonymous usage data. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
What we collect
- Account. If you sign in with Google (or Apple, where offered) we receive your email address, name and profile picture URL from that provider. If you sign up with email, we store your email and a securely hashed password. Your username starts out based on your name or email; you can change it on your Profile.
- Public profile. Your username, display name, profile picture and the recipes you brewed are shown on your public page at brewmind.coffee/your-username.
- Brew gear. Grinder, dripper and filter you choose, used to tune recipes.
- Brews and ratings. When you brew with the timer or send a recipe to xBloom, we save the brew (recipe, dose, pours, timing), and any taste rating or feedback you give. We use this to show your Brewed history and caffeine estimate and to improve recipes.
- Recipes and beans. Bean details you enter or scan (name, roaster, origin, process, roast, tasting notes) and the recipes generated from them. Generated recipes join the public recipe library, which does not show who created them.
- Device id. A random identifier,
bm_anon_id, stored in your browser (local storage and a first-party cookie). It lets you use BrewMind without an account, enforces the free guest limit, and moves your guest brews into your account when you sign in. - Usage events. A short list of product events (recipe generated, brew started, rating submitted, sign-up shown or completed, support link clicked), tied to your account or device id, with whether you use a phone or desktop and the browser or home-screen app. We use them to see which features help.
- On your device only. Theme, dismissed hints, recent beans and similar preferences stay in your browser storage and are not sent to us.
Bag photos and AI processing
Bag photos you scan are sent to a third-party AI service to read the label, then discarded. We do not store the image. Bean details and brew settings are also sent to third-party AI services to create and check recipes, and bean names may be looked up with a web search service.
These AI service providers process the text and photos you submit to generate and check recipes, acting on our instructions. We choose and may change these providers over time. We do not send your name or email with these requests.
xBloom
If you connect an xBloom account, your xBloom email and password are passed to xBloom to sign in and are not stored by us. The session token xBloom returns is kept in your browser for the current session only. We use it, when you ask, to send recipes to your xBloom account and to read your saved xBloom recipes for context.
Support and affiliate links
Buy Me a Coffee (web only) handles any support payment on its own site; we never see card details. It tells us the supporter name you chose, the amount, currency and any message, which we keep to thank supporters.
Affiliate links. Some links to coffee gear and beans (for example xBloom, Amazon or Shopee) may be affiliate links, so we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We may record that a link was clicked. Purchases happen on the store's site and its own privacy policy applies.
Service providers
- Database and sign-in provider — stores your account and brews.
- Hosting provider — runs the site, including cookieless web analytics for aggregate page views. The analytics set no cookies; each visit is counted with a request hash that is discarded after 24 hours.
- Third-party AI service providers — recipe generation and label reading (above).
- A web search service — bean lookups.
- Google / Apple — sign-in, if you choose them.
- Buy Me a Coffee — optional support payments.
Like any website, our hosting and database providers process your IP address and basic request details to deliver the service and keep it secure.
How long we keep data
- Account, profile, gear and brews: until you delete your account.
- Usage events and AI request logs: 180 days, then deleted automatically.
- Guest limit counters: reset weekly.
- Public recipes: kept in the library, without any link to you.
Your choices
You can use BrewMind without an account. Signed in, you can edit your username, name and gear on your Profile. To delete your account, open Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your sign-in account and profile (including gear), your brews and ratings, saved beans, usage events, push notification tokens, and guest recipes that were moved into your account. Recipes you generated stay in the public library as plain BrewMind recipes, with no link to you.
You can also email us to access, correct or delete your data. To clear the device id, clear this site's data in your browser.
Children
BrewMind is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
